Is it a myth that you shouldn't bring your dog to a firework display? A friend told me that loud noises may frighten my dog but won't do any real harm.
From the Editors of The Dog Daily
The loud explosions could
hurt your dog's more sensitive hearing, depending on how close you get to the fireworks. Some dogs become so traumatized by the sounds that they actually may cower and shiver or try to escape. Dogs have even been known to run for their lives through an open door or window during city firework displays. It's best to leave your pet at home in a quiet, closed room. For company while you're gone, you can leave a radio or television on at normal volume to help establish a more familiar sound environment for your dog.
